Computer Vocabulary Quiz 4

1.  A tool for finding information on the Internet.  Yahoo, AltaVista and Google are examples of this type of tool that searches for key words within websites.

2.  A connector/term/operator used in searching databases which indicates that for two statements/rules/criteria only records satisfying both statements/rules/criteria should be selected.

3.  The AND, OR and NOT logic operators which provide for, among other things, a powerful way to search for information.  These logic operators were created 150 years ago by English mathematician George Boole.

4.  A type of information that can be entered into a spreadsheet cell. It is a mathematical equation consisting of numbers, other cell designators, and symbols for mathematical operations. The result of the is displayed in the cell that holds this type of information.

5.  A software program that creates a situation or scenario that is modeled after real life situations. Dino Park and Sim City are two examples of this type of software program. 

6.  A connector/term/operator used in searching databases which indicates that for two statements/rules/criteria all records satisfying either one statement/rule criterion or both statements/rules/criteria should be selected.

7.  A type of data that can be entered into a spreadsheet cell.  It consists of words that usually identify a column or row of numbers.

8.  A process of organizing the records in a database in a specific order, either alphabetically or numerically.

9.  To remove text, characters or images from your document to the clipboard.

10.  Selecting keywords connected to your topic that you are trying to find information or database records for. The use of Boolean operators can narrow the search to relevant information.

11.  One type of data that can be entered into a spreadsheet cell. It consists of numbers that can be added, subtracted, etc.

12.  A collection or listing of related fields or categories in a database file.

13.  The horizontal divisions of a spreadsheet that intersect the vertical divisions (columns) to form cells in which data can be entered. This horizontal divisions are label numerically (1, 2, 3, ...).

14.  Text that appears at the top or bottom of very page in your document.

15.  Aligning text up to the left margin.

16.  A display (on the screen or printed onto paper) of the records or parts of the records of a database that satisfy a particular search or sort.

17.  The process of finding all records of a database that meet a certain rule, statement or criterion. This process may be based on a single statement, rule or criterion or a combination of statements, rules and criteria joined by "AND" or "OR" (Boolean operators). This process is also called find, query or match in some database software.

18.  Operators such as AND or OR used in searching databases which indicates which records satisfying one statement/rule/criterion or both should be selected.

19.  The vertical divisions of a spreadsheet that intersect the horizontal divisions (rows) to form cells in which data can be entered. These vertical divisions are labeled alphabetically (A, B, C, ...AB, AC, AD...).

20.  1. An item of information in a record of a file in a database. 2. In hypermedia, an object or area on a card or page where text is entered.

21.  A feature in a software program that allows numerical data to be interpreted as a graph or chart.

22.  Part of a word processing program that uses a disk-based dictionary to check and correct misspellings in documents.

23.  Devices such as keyboard, disk drive, scanner, digital camera, probe, touch screen.

24.  The intersection of a row and a column on a spreadsheet in which data can be entered.  These intersections are designated by their column letter and row number -- for example "B4".

25.  An applications program, used in financial forecasting, that can quickly handle calculations and perform evaluation.
