WHAT IS WAC?

WAC programs are used by many universities across the country.  The names of the programs may vary—Communication across the Curriculum, Writing in the Disciplines--but the goals are the same.  WAC programs are based on the premise that students benefit in two major ways by continuing to write extensively in courses throughout their college careers.  They not only continue to develop writing skills, particularly skills in the types of writing they will be doing in their careers, but they will also learn material more effectively by writing about it.
