The Mathematics Laboratory is one of the components of CTLAS (Center for Teaching, Learning and Academic Support). It is a university-wide Mathematics Laboratory housed in Whiting Hall Room 132. The Math Lab is designed to provide assistance with mathematics free of charge to the students at Savannah State University. The Math Lab promotes each student's success through discussion, group study and individual help. The goals of the Math Lab is to:
Course instructors refer students who need help to master mathematics or mathematics- related concepts to the Math Lab housed in Whiting Hall Room 132. Students who visit the Math Lab receive a one-to-one free tutorial offered by the faculty from the Department of the Natural Sciences and Mathematics and from CTLAS Math Component. The Math Lab operates as a drop-in help session. Students in any math course are welcome to visit the Math Lab for assistance with either to clarify misunderstood math concepts or homework assignments. In collaboration with the Students Academic Assistance Program (SAAP), the Math Lab provides instruction for the Learning Support math courses (Fundamental Mathematics: 0097 and 0099.) These courses provide remediation and mathematics skill development for students enrolled in SAAP. (For further information, see description of SAAP math courses under “Course Description.”) Before an instructor directs a student to Whiting Hall 132, Math Lab, an instructor must complete a referral form. |
