of Senior Level Faculty Mentors With this directory, CTLAS provides
new faculty a composite list of senior level faculty mentors. This way, new faculty
can form a mentoring alliance with mentors outside their discipline as well.
Mentoring alliances across the disciplines can be advantageous (1) because greater emphases on
teaching could be devoted to delivery and sequence rather than on content issues
and (2) because new faculty would be less intimidated by someone working with
them on a limited basis. New faculty should contact a mentor of their choice
early during the semester. Mentors will help facilitate the transition, develop
a professional development plan, and offer suggestions regarding instructional
concerns.
