GOALS
& OBJECTIVES
#1:
Make available opportunities for faculty to develop a
theoretical knowledge base for effective teaching
#2:
Provide opportunities for "master" teachers to
share and to model their best practices
#3:
Promote e-courses for asynchronous learning "outside
the four walls" to accommodate different learning styles and lifestyles of a diverse student
body
#4:
Support faculty development through provisions for
communications across the curriculum to maintain a vital professoriate

Assist
faculty with editing (e.g., papers and articles for
publication, speeches, brochures and web
presentations via The ReWrite Connection

Assist
faculty in incorporating reading and writing across the
curriculum to improve student outcomes on proficiency
examinations

Maintain a mentoring program for new faculty

Promote higher pass rates on Regents' Test among
test-takers

Provide
opportunity (Basic Composition) for students with a
remedial reading requirement (but no remedial English) to
hone their writing skills until such time that they can
enroll in English 1101

Support
advanced literary across the curriculum

Offer seminars for students
who failed the test multiple times

Identify and nurture PETS
(Prospective Early Test-Takers)

Provide math tutoring via the university wide Math Lab for
students having difficulty in math and
math-related courses
