Interest and Vision

As director of CTLAS, my main interest lies in helping SSU to develop eLearning courses and subsequently degree programs.  I am also interested in helping faculty to find faculty development opportunities.  Currently, the EXLIR Project is my main focus. The EXLIR Project is a collaborative between MERLOT, the University System of Georgia (USG), other university systems, and educational agencies to develop faculty e-case stories to be used as national models.  Of the two USG schools which are participating in this project, SSU is one.  Our featured faculty is Dr. Emily Crawford, Professor of Marketing.  Her Case Story is Titled “Implementing Online Service Learning in a Hybrid Marketing Class.”

I have two immediate goals.  One is to implement an online writing lab via the ReWrite Connection, the universitywide writing center through the use of Elluminate Live, a program that will give us audio-visual capability in real time.  My other goal is to implement online academic advisement using the same program.  With these programs, we will be able to accommodate students impacted by distance, physical disabilities, emergencies, and work.
