TUTORIAL LABS

·       Re-Write Connection is available to students for additional help with writing and reading skills.  The lab can help students prepare for the Regent’s Test, assist students with research papers.  It is a wonderful resource for you literary needs.  Inquire at the Re-Write Connection, 125 Whiting Hall, 912-303-4353

·       Specialty Lab Sessions are open to students taking 0099 math, reading, and English courses.  Lab is located at 104 Whiting Hall, 356-2178 or contact your course instructor.

·       Math Lab is available to all students for additional help in math concepts.  Inquire at the Math Lab, 132 Whiting Hall,356-2872.

·       Computer Testing Lab is available for test preparation and test administration only.  The lab is located at 128 Whiting Hall.  Inquire at 246 Whiting Hall, 353-3105 or 3112.

OPEN LABS

·       Computer Information Systems (CIS) Lab is for Business Majors only, located at 206 Jordan Hall.

·       Computer Lab is open to all students.  The lab is located at 208 Jordan Hall. 

·       Computer Lab is open to all students.  The lab is located at 214 Jordan Hall. Open on weekdays and weekends.

·       Computer Lab is open to all students.  The lab is located in 111 Payne Hall, 356-2208.

·       Computer Lab is open to all students.  The lab is located in 209 Payne Hall, 356-2208.

·       Achievement Lab is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Title III Project.  This facility is available to all SSU faculty and students with a GPA 3.35 and above.  For information contact Mr. James Scott at 353-5131.

LIBRARY SERVICES

GALILEO world wide web database service, 1st floor; Audiovisual (AV) Center, 2nd Floor, 356-2184; Reading room, 2nd Floor; Achievement Lab, 2nd floor, contact Mr. James Scott, 353-5131; On-line library Services; Study and Conference Rooms are located on each floor, study rooms are locate on the 2nd floor.  All study rooms are equipped with personal computers to provide word processing services; Internet Service, 1st floor; and Photocopying and Print Outs, 1st and 3rd floors.  Contact the circulation desk for more information at 355-2183.

DEVELOPMENT

Career Development Services provides a wide variety of services to students including career counseling, vocational assessment, résumé-building assistance, job placement, and career information.  Contact Career Services, 246 King-Frazier Student Center, 356-2285.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Navy ROTC students can prepare for commissioned service as regular or reserve officers in the Navy or Marine Corps, commensurate with earning their degree.   Programs constitute academic minor in naval science.  Contact NROTC, McGlockton Building, NROTC Unit, 356-2206.

OFFICE OF STUDENT SUCCESS & RETENTION

This office is a resource to promote student persistence and retention, particularly during the freshman and sophomore years where attrition is greatest nationwide. The office offers holistic academic advisement, a mentoring program, and the freshman year experience seminar. Contact Student Success & Retention, Whiting Hall, rooms 246 and 259, 353-3112.

CENTER FOR LEADERSHIP & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

The Center for Leadership and Character Development is a laboratory for the study and contemplation of leadership development. The hearthstone of the Centers' vision is the focus on preparing students to become principled students and citizens. Through its programs and services, the Center seeks to help the University not merely graduate students prepared for the complex world, but graduate leaders prepared to change the complex world. COUNSELING AND DISABILITY SERVICES

The Office of Counseling and Disability Services provides two main types of services: Professional Counseling and Disability Services.

Professional Counseling addresses students’ needs related to social and emotional issues that may be affecting their day to day functioning, grades and stable school life.

Disability Services is committed to providing an equal educational opportunity for all qualified students with disabilities (permanent or temporary) which are physical or mental. Accommodations are academic adaptations that do not compromise academic standards or the mastery of essential course elements, but provide students with disabilities, an equal opportunity to succeed. Accommodations provide equal access to facilities and information regarding test accommodations, course accommodations, and system accommodations.
